After 26 years of protection, research, funding, and conservation… did we do well?

Around 2000 the federal recovery plan had just been issued in 1998. at the time the ope’aope’a was endangered and scientists admitted something striking: they did not now how many existed. its population status and habitat was hard to determine if increasing or not…

What did we do over the past 26 years ????

Yes, after 26 years of conservation and federal and state money use…several thoughts came to mind…

Families also needed somewhere to live. Yet people remained houseless; families struggled to retain ancestral land and wildlife habitat, and commercial development continued. Where did the land go?

E aunty, I thought about something too! oh boy, stay on topic…it’s not about the conservations and the habitats; it’s about the bigger picture happening around them…commercial development limiting natural growth. ok.
